Why am I unable to login?
There could be a few reasons. Firstly, please ensure that your Username is correct. Secondly, Passwords are case sensitive and you should ensure that the correct cases are used and your caps lock is not unintentionally activated. Furthermore if you are doing a copy & paste of your password, please ensure that you do not copy any blank spaces or other irrelevant characters. If you need assistance with your username, please contact our Customer Support team.
How do I open a BBY smarTrader account?
To trade through BBY smarTrader, you need to open a trading account. You will need to be over 18 years of age and have a valid address within Australia. Simply download and fill in BBY smarTrader Account Application. Once you have completed your client account application, please print a copy, sign and post to

What brokerage and fees do you charge?
You only pay brokerage when your orders have traded. Emailed contract notes are free and available for download from the website. Please see our Rates and Fees for a listing of all fees and charges.
How do I return the screen to the default layout?
Delete all the tabs in the tabs section and reset smarTrader to reset your layout to the default layout.
4. How do I complete the Account Application?
You will need to:
- Provide personal details for the applicant.
- Select acknowledgment tick box for Financial Services Guide and Terms & Conditions. Link here
- Download the account opening application form and fill it in
- If you would like to nominate an authorised representative on your account, we'll need their personal details.
- Print and get account holder(s) to sign the application form.
- Enclose a certified copy of the required documents such as a driver's licence or passport of all applicants, including the authorized representative, confirming the current residential address of each applicant. If the identification does not provide the current residential address, you'll need to enclose a recent bank statement, council rate notice or utility bill with a current residential address as well. - Post both the signed application form and required identification to BBY smarTrader.
- Once you have completed your account application, sign and post to

- Once we have received your application and supporting documentation certified, BBY will aim to activate your account with in 24hours
- You will receive an email with login and password details to your nominated email address
- Login to BBY smarTrader website using the login details provided via email.
- In order to trade, you will need to open an cash management account or provide details of your current cash management account. . Our recommended cash management accounts are detailed here.
- You can begin trading as soon as you have funds in your cash management account. You can only trade the amount of money you have in your cash management account.
- You are ready to trade!

Why can't we use the same email or mobile number to register?
We treat email addresses as unique identifiers of our clients' logins. Furthermore, most of our correspondences are sent via email including, passwords and contract notes and to maintain the confidentiality and privacy of each user, we require each user to have their own email address.

What happens after my application form has been submitted?
You will instantly be given partial access to the BBY smarTrader website after you successfully complete your application. Once we have received your application form and supporting documentation including information on your cash management account:
- We will aim to activate your account within 24 hours upon receipt.
- You will receive email verification from us once your account has been set up.
- All the information you need, such as account numbers, will be sent to you via email.
How do I get informed about my password ?
We will send your password to your email address when your account is first opened. For security purposes, we will not provide your password via phone or fax. If you would like it re-sent, simply call our Customer Service Team on 1800 40 30 40.
Can I authorise someone else to trade on my account?
Yes, you can authorise someone else to enquire or trade on your account. There are two ways to do this. You can fill out the "Authorised Representative" section of the Online Account Application. Or, once your account is established, you can complete the form "Adding Authorised Representative". You'll find this in the Forms & Brochures section of our website. Note: you must provide identification for the authorised representative, such as a driver's license or passport.
If you wish to revoke authority for an authorised representative, you must provide us with written permission from all of the account holders.
Once added, authorised representatives to your account will have their own login details. They can call our Customer Service team and obtain trading account information and trade on your account.
Authorised representatives are however unable to suspend or close the account, prohibit account holders from trading, request stock transfers and conversions, request funds transfer into or out of the trading account, change registration details and the nominated bank account for the trading account.
How do I change my details?
You can change the following personal details simply fill in the forms on the forms and brochures section of the website.
Contact details - email, mobile/phone/work/fax numbers and preferred method of contact
Residential and postal address
Password

How can I change my Password?
You can change your Password online through My Login Detail section via tab of our website. Simply press "reset a forgotten password".
How do I "unlock" my account having tried to sign in unsuccessfully?
You can "unlock" your account by clicking on the link Reset a Forgotten Password located right beneath the Username & Password login fields. Key in your username, click on the Reset button and a new password will be sent to your email. Login with the new password to unlock your account.
How do I close my trading account?
If you no longer wish to trade with us, you need to provide a signed written request, detailing your account number to close your trading account. This must be mailed to us. Click here for our contact details .
Can I begin trading before I have an active CMT account?
You can begin trading straight away by organizing a direct deposit into our designated accounts. If you are already a BBY customer, the process is also detailed below in option B.
If you do not have an account with us already but wish to trade immediately you must take option A.

I would like to transfer securities to my BBY smarTrader account. How can I do that?
Option A - Transfer Securities at the time of opening a new account:
When opening a new account you can transfer stock by reviewing and completing the details in section 5 of the Client Application form. See the 'Forms and Brochures' page for this form. In addition, you will need to complete and sign the 'Change of Sponsoring Broker' form for any broker sponsored stock you wish to move.
br /> For Issuer sponsored stock you need to send a copy of the latest 'Issuer Sponsored Holding Statement' which must include your SRN (Shareholder Reference Number). Please note: This stock must be held in the same name as the account being opened with us at BBY smarTrader.
Option B - Transfer of Securities after the account has been opened:
To transfer securities from a Broker Sponsored Holding, we require a 'Signed letter of Instruction' plus a signed 'Change of Sponsoring Broker Form' as per the 'Forms and Brochures' page. Please note: This stock must be held in the same name as the account held at BBY smarTrader.
To transfer Issuer Sponsored Holdings, we require a signed 'Letter of Instruction' plus a copy of the latest 'Issuer Sponsored Holding Statement' which must include your SRN (Shareholder Reference Number). Please note: This stock must be held in the same name as the account held at BBY smarTrader.
